Getting to Know Us

For over 150 years the faithful have gathered to worship and serve as a caring body of Christ in our beautiful, historic church in Sumneytown. Friedens UCC is blessed with spiritual guidance from our pastor and with lay leaders who generously share their talents to meet the needs and challenges of our faith community.

Fellowship, food, and mission are integral to our church life. Fellowship is nurtured in Coffee & Kibitzing, Breakfast Bunch gatherings, Christmas cookie sale and Easter candy sales. These events promote fellowship within our community, while raising needed funds for church expenses.

Adult and youth volunteers have stretched the hands and hearts of Friedens beyond our doors with mission trips to Haiti, Mississippi, Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, SERRV in Maryland, and locally at Trinity UCC’s soup kitchen in Pottstown in recent years. Within our congregation Christ’s love is shared through our Prayer Chain and a Cards and Calls Ministry that keeps us in touch and on call for support to ill and shut-in members.

We are proud of our Music Ministry. Under the direction of our talented organist, vocal, and bell choir directors, we enjoy an Adult Choir and intergenerational Bell Choir to enhance worship. Christian Education is fostered through Vacation Bible School during the summer.
