Adult Sunday School - Sundays at 9AM
Join us in 2018 as we continue to discuss the core meaning of the lessons Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew - Chapters 5-7

Concerning Anger - Matthew 5:21-26
21 “You have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, 'You shall not murder', and 'whoever murders shall be liable to judgement.' 22 But I say to you that if you are angry with a brother or sister, you will be liable to judgement; and if you insult a brother or sister, you will be liable to the council; and if you say, 'You fool,' you will be liable to the hell of fire."

Pastor Leslie explains:
In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus does more than just reinterpret the law: he relocates authority from the written text of scripture to himself. His teachings are not transgressions of the law, but rather transcend and radicalize the law. Jesus teaching deals with the inner dimensions of human conduct, which Law cannot regulate.

The point of Matthew 5:21-26 (Anger) is to broaden the expectations about how we treat one another. Not only are we not to KILL, there should not even be any hostility between people.
