Message from the Church Moderator and the Church Reopening Task Force—August 29, 2020

Dear Church Family and Friends,

The news in recent weeks has been tracking the increase in COVID cases in our state with the Oahu numbers far out pacing all other counties. The Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu issued Emergency Order 2020-25, “SECOND STAY AT HOME / WORK FROM HOME ORDER” to help slow the spread of COVID-19 so our public and private health care providers can manage the influx of new patients and to safeguard public health and safety. The order took effect this past Thursday, August 27, 2020 and will continue through September 9, 2020.

This latest order also exempts churches and other religious groups; however, our church leadership continues to believe it would be prudent to follow the spirit of the order.

Therefore, Waialua United Church of Christ will be extending the suspension of all in-person Sunday worship services through September 30, 2020. We do this out of an abundance of caution and safety concerns for our church members and visitors.

We will continue to offer our virtual online worship services through Facebook, YouTube, and at our church website at waialuaucc.org.

We are hoping for the best but can only wait and see if this Second Stay At Home order will help to slow the spread of the virus. Our church leaders will continue to monitor the situation and assess our ability to resume in person Sunday worship.

Thank you for your continued understanding in this matter.

Please be safe and stay healthy.

Blessings,

Sevy Tolentino, Sr. Moderator and the Church Reopening Task Force

OUR CHURCH
Welcome to Waialua United Church of Christ! We're glad that you have found us and we hope you will join us to worship God. Here you will find a warm and welcoming community of believers. We have been worshipping and serving in this area since 1901. Today, we continue reflecting Christ's love through our multi-cultural, multi-generational community. In 1988, a beautiful sanctuary and administration building were dedicated, and in 2002 a social hall, classrooms and offices were added. At Waialua UCC we believe that building community is at the heart of Christ's gospel. So, come be challenged and refreshed, and find a place where YOU can make a difference in the world. You'll be glad that you did!
