Pastor’s & Moderator’s Message—June 28, 2020

Dear Church Members and Friends,

We have all missed seeing and greeting each other since the world changed so drastically due to the pandemic in March. We have tried to remain connected to you by offering an online version of our worship service. But it pales in comparison to being together in person, face to face.

First of all, I would like to thank those of you who have continued to send your offerings and tithes to the church during these difficult financial times. The church is never closed. We as the body of Christ remain with hearts open to the Holy Spirit. We remain open to serving others who are in need.

During this time away from our church campus, our Church Reopen Task Force and Church Council leadership have been busy planning and preparing for in-person worship and the reopening of our sanctuary. That day has finally arrived. We will have our first in-person church worship service on Sunday, July 5th at our regular time of 10:30 a.m. Please arrive a little earlier.

There will be, however, significant changes to how we will conduct our worship service. These changes are necessary to protect the health and well being of our loved ones and all those in attendance. To that purpose, we have enclosed our COVID Church Policy. Please read it carefully.

Finally, the COVID-19 virus is still out there in our community. Therefore, attending our worship service is a decision you and your family will need to prayerfully make. Some of you may not feel ready to return to church and that’s okay. You can continue to watch our worship service online from home. In either case, let the Holy Spirit speak to you and allow it to guide your decision.

Be well and know that God is with us always,
Yours in Christ,

Scott M. Furukawa, Pastor & Sevy Tolentino, Sr., Moderator

Dear Church Family,

Someone posing as me is sending emails out asking for monies and gift cards to be sent to cancer patients. This is a scam. I am not making any such requests. Do not send any monies or gift cards. Disregard and delete this type of emails. If you have any questions, email me directly at revscott.wucc@gmail.com.

Be safe.

OUR CHURCH
Welcome to Waialua United Church of Christ! We're glad that you have found us and we hope you will join us to worship God. Here you will find a warm and welcoming community of believers. We have been worshipping and serving in this area since 1901. Today, we continue reflecting Christ's love through our multi-cultural, multi-generational community. In 1988, a beautiful sanctuary and administration building were dedicated, and in 2002 a social hall, classrooms and offices were added. At Waialua UCC we believe that building community is at the heart of Christ's gospel. So, come be challenged and refreshed, and find a place where YOU can make a difference in the world. You'll be glad that you did!
