Outreach & Service

Crop Walk
Annually we participate in the Church World Service (CWS) Crop Walk. This activity is organized by the Reading Council of Churches and Reading Food Bank. We spend a Sunday afternoon walking with other churches and organizations to raise funds and awareness for local and world hunger. Generally, 75% of the funds raised go to the Reading Food Bank to fight local hunger, and 25% go to fight world hunger through CWS. Usually this takes place in October.

Relay for Life
Annually we participate in the American Cancer Society's (ACS) Relay for Life. With other churches, community groups, and individuals we walk to raise funds and awareness to fight cancer.

Angel Tree
Our generous members purchase Christmas gifts for less fortunate children. This mission is coordinated with the Salvation Army.

Berks Women in Crisis
We support Berks Women in Crisis with contributions.

The Greater Berks Food Bank
Throughout the year we support the Greater Berks Food Bank with gifts of food and contributions of funds.

The Reading Emergency Shelter
We support the Reading Emergency Shelter with gifts of blankets, clothing, and funds.

Diakon Volunteer Home Care
Diakon Volunteer Home Care (Diakon) is an interfaith outreach ministry responding to the needs of the community by offering help to individuals age 60 and above through the support of caring volunteers. This assistance is generally transportation for doctor appointments, grocery shopping, and critical social service appointments.
